Solstice. It's an average '76 show and, unlike the next night, not a standout for this remarkable tour, except for a 1st Set sequence and a 2nd Set Help>Slip>Franks. First Set. There is no merely average Music Never Stopped on this tour, though this one takes a while for the groove to suddenly lock, in the end jam. Sugaree is sleepy and Jer's guitar drops a couple times. Brown Eyed Women is almost as good as 6/14 and 6/18 and sounds like a '73. Things perk up for the last half of the set. Four of these are on Download 4 and, though solid, they do not represent the heights reached elsewhere on the tour, just GOGD - until a careening Promised Land that stays on the rails just enough to leave 'em happy for break. Second Set. A rare stand-alone Wheel opener, followed by a Samson where Jer's weaves try to make up for everyone else's slop. He is heard shrugging "you can't win 'em all!". Help on the Way is going to surprise you. It is stellar - maybe better than 6/14, 9/24 or 10/9. Slipknot! has a huge, '76-style jam. I especially like the first minute of Franklin's as well as the last solo. The rest of the set is below average for the tour. Wharf Rat goes nowhere and Around is even more strangely plodding. There's only a short beak before the double encore. After Roses Jer asks for "J.B.?" Bobby jokes "Tear Gas?" Jer: "Sugar Mag?". But it's a quick-and-out JB. 1st Set: C 2nd Set: C+ Overall = 3 stars Highlights: Brown Eyed Women - sounds like a '73 Help on the Way>Slipknot!>Franklin's Tower - a tour highlight SOURCES: The miller_112171 patched the missing parts of the SBD with AUD (Row to Promised). The miller_112191 update restored the patch with a SBD, except for Row and LLR. More work was done to make the miller_124828, restoring part of Scarlet, and through to Candyman. However, the patch on Row still misses a beat (use the seamons_ht98 matrix and add +2% pitch) and the SBD still runs a bit slow, needing +1% pitch (speed). Scarlet through Candyman are on Download Series Volume 4.
